Loneliness Awareness Week returns from 15–21 June 2026, and this year’s theme, “Giving Loneliness a Voice,” is all about creating more open conversations around loneliness and reminding people that they are not alone in how they feel.
Throughout the week, communities, organisations, schools, workplaces and landmarks are coming together to show support, and this Wednesday, many iconic buildings and locations across the UK and Ireland will be lighting up orange as part of the campaign.
The orange light is a visible reminder that loneliness is a normal human emotion, and that connection, understanding and conversation matter.
As part of the week, we’re also encouraging everyone to take part in Share an Orange Day on Wednesday 17 June, a simple way to spark conversations and spread connection in your workplace, school, or community. Share your moments on social media using #ShareAnOrange
This year, locations taking part include:
Norwegian Church, Cardiff

City Chambers, Edinburgh

Roath Park Lighthouse, Cardiff

Stormont Parliament Buildings, Belfast

The Kelpies, Falkirk

The Falkirk Wheel

Brighton Pier

Bristol City Hall

Ashton Gate Stadium, Bristol

Mansion House, Dublin

Camera Obscura & World of Illusions, Edinburgh

Seeing buildings across different cities glow orange is a powerful reminder that conversations around loneliness are happening everywhere, in communities, workplaces, public spaces and homes.
You can explore even more events on the Connections Map throughout the week, and share your experiences online using #LonelinessAwarenessWeek and #GivingLonelinessAVoice
