Loneliness Awareness Week takes place from 15–21 June 2026, and this year’s theme is “Giving Loneliness a Voice.” Across the week, communities are coming together through creativity, conversation and shared experiences to help open up conversations around loneliness.
If you enjoy photography, poetry, storytelling or creative spaces, here are a few cultural events happening this Loneliness Awareness Week.

Photo Exhibition: “Giving Loneliness a Voice”
This thoughtful photography exhibition shares visual stories around loneliness and connection through the work of 42 photographers. It’s a reflective and creative space that explores how loneliness can look and feel different for everyone.
A lovely event to visit with friends, family, or even by yourself.
Raise the Bar – Live Poetry Night
An evening of poetry, spoken word, storytelling and live performance in Bristol. Whether you want to perform, listen, or simply enjoy the atmosphere, this welcoming creative space is open to everyone.
Events like this remind us how powerful sharing stories and listening to others can be.
Knitting Together
A creative community project helping people feel connected through knitting and shared creativity. Participants can contribute from home while still being part of something meaningful alongside others.
It’s a lovely reminder that connection can happen in many different ways.
House of Books and Friends’ Belonging Box
A simple but powerful drop-in activity inviting people to anonymously share reflections on loneliness, belonging and connection.
By sharing experiences, we help others feel less alone and create more open conversations around loneliness.
Poetry & Storytelling Workshop with Sukina Noor
Join Bristol City Poet Sukina Noor for a welcoming workshop exploring loneliness, belonging and community through poetry and storytelling.
No writing experience is needed, just curiosity, openness and a willingness to connect with others through creativity and conversation.
Loneliness can still feel difficult to talk about because of stigma, which is why spaces like these matter so much. Even a small moment of creativity, conversation or connection can make a difference 💛
Why not attend with a friend, bring someone along, or go solo and meet new people along the way?
You can explore even more events on the Connections Map throughout Loneliness Awareness Week.
