Loneliness Awareness Week takes place from 15–21 June 2026, and this year’s theme, “Giving Loneliness a Voice,” encourages us to open up conversations around loneliness and connection.
Community events can be such a simple but powerful way to meet people, spend time with others, and feel part of something welcoming. Whether you want to share a meal, enjoy music, attend a social gathering or simply be around others, here are a few community events happening this Loneliness Awareness Week.

Kindred’s Community Dinner
A shared dining experience bringing people together around long tables for conversation, connection and good food. Guests are encouraged to come along solo, connect with new people, and fully be present in the moment.
A lovely reminder that even small conversations can help build connection.
GMOPN Summer Social Event
This warm and welcoming summer social includes games, conversation, storytelling and creative activities designed to help people connect at their own pace.
With a relaxed atmosphere and a focus on belonging, it’s a gentle and supportive community space to spend time with others.
Spotlight Social Screening
Created for over-65s, this social screening combines theatre, conversation and community in a friendly and relaxed setting.
Alongside the screening, attendees can enjoy refreshments and meet new people locally while sharing a cultural experience together.
Buddi Bench Bash! ’26 – UK’s Friendliest Picnic
A fun and energetic community picnic bringing people together through music, conversation and shared experiences. Guests are welcome to come alone or bring friends along for an afternoon of connection and good vibes.
Sometimes community can begin with something as simple as sitting together in the park.
Music Declares Climate Action Challenge
This creative campaign highlights the role music can play in bringing people together and creating community. Through shared interests, festivals, songs and creative spaces, music can help people feel connected to something bigger.
It’s a reminder that connection can often begin through shared passions and experiences.
Connection doesn’t always have to start with a big conversation. Sometimes it begins with showing up to an event, sharing a meal, listening to music, or simply being around others 💛
Loneliness can affect anyone, which is why creating welcoming community spaces matters so much. This Loneliness Awareness Week, why not try attending an event with a friend, family member, colleague, or even by yourself?
You can explore even more events on the Connections Map throughout Loneliness Awareness Week.
And if you attend an event this week, share it on your socials by tagging Marmalade Trust and using #LonelinessAwarenessWeek and #GivingLonelinessAVoice 💛
